About Joseph Chambers
Dr. Chambers earned his BS degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his medical degree from Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois. Dr. Chambers completed his residency in Adult Internal Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and an Adult Cardiology fellowship at the Texas Heart Institute. His professional activities since 1995 include more than eight years of Interventional Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular services throughout the State of Kansas, with academic appointments at the University of Kansas Department of Medicine, University of Kansas School of Medicine, and Wichita State University.
In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Chambers co-hosted a weekly radio and television program on cardiovascular health. Dr. Chambers joined Southwest Heart in 2005 and Carondelet Specialist Group in 2011. His work includes consultative, invasive and interventional cardiology services as well as diagnostic and interventional peripheral vascular services. He is board Certified in Adult Internal Medicine, Adult Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology.

I had been with another provider that was suggested to me on a list from United Health Care. Having had great care prior to our move from Minneapolis, I was stunned that my first (and) last visit to this doctor was a chest check, blood pressure reading and a "come back in six months". I went looking for a good provider and found Carondolet and thank God I did. From the start, my new NP primary care provider, Marvin Despas. Took blood, did all my vitals and discovered a heart murmur and left bundle branch block. He IMEDIATELY referred me to the cardiologist and an ophthalmologist to check my eyes due to my type2 diabetes. I have already seen Dr.Chamber at cardiology and he has scheduled me for additional tests. My eye exam is upcoming. Just as an aside, I was born at St. Joseph 's hospital in Kansas City 72 years ago. A hospital owned by the Sisters of Carondolet. My late father and brother were/are cardiologist and both of my sister's are RN's. I know good medical care when I see it. I am forever grateful that I found my way to Carondolet!

Dr. Chambers has been my cardiologist since I was diagnosed with Afib. He has worked well with my PCP when a sonogram revealed a possible aortic aneurysm and had me scheduled immediately. He referred me to an excellent vascular surgeon. I credit these three physicians with saving my life. Twice yearly visits with Dr. Chambers have been helpful in keeping me informed and well. He and the other physicians involved in my care are in touch whenever I have tests, changes in medication, etc.

Dr. Joseph Chambers was very professional, and demonstrated a thorough knowledge of his chosen profession. He quickly diagnosed my coronary condition as atrial fibrillation, following an EKG being performed, and listening to my heart with his stethoscope. He recommended stopping one of my medications taken for high blood pressure, and substituting it with another, more effective one. He also prescribed a blood thinner for me. For my wife, who suffers from heart palpitations, he directed that she wear a heart monitor for one week, and scheduled her for a coronary ultrasound. Following that, he will make a diagnosis as to what is causing her palpitations. I am scheduled to see him in about 4 months to see if my medication changes have made an improvement to my own heart condition.
